JESSICA + ROB ROY | DAY 3: SETTING UP A LUXURY WINTER WONDERLAND WEDDING IN LAKE TAHOE
Welcome to Day 3 of our Winter Wonderland Wedding of Jessica Lombardi to Switch Founder and CEO Rob Roy in Lake Tahoe.
This day was incredibly exciting because we finally started to see all of the elements of the atrium come together. Our platform was complete, and we were able to lift the walls and the frame. We also began to see our guests checking in, with the arrival of my bride and groom and a handful of other VIPs.
After spending days on the hard production set, we finally had our flower room set up. Or, should I say, rooms! We had three rooms filled with flowers. They were chilled and ice cold to keep everything fresh, while our ballrooms were heated so that we could stretch and seam the vinyl.

You are receiving these videos with me - I have not received an advanced copy of Days 4, 5, 6, etc. It’s exciting to go back and relive these moments, but it is also very overwhelming. Obviously, I have a visceral and emotional connection to these moments, having lived them before, but there is also a sense of wonder and excitement. Much like on a wedding day, it all goes by in a blur. As I get and share these videos, there is a sense of anticipation that we get to share together.
One of the reasons I created this series is because it is so hard to understand what it actually takes to produce a wedding of this magnitude. Couples fall in love with the pretty and the prettiest great! I love the pretty. But pretty without a process will always and forever fall flat. You can't fully understand the magnitude of work, the breadth of skill, and the sheer number of people it takes to build something that has never existed before. When I have the opportunity to speak to a new couple, they very often ask, “How did you do that?" or “Where was that?” Here, I get to share some of the magic and help my clients understand the path we will walk before the process begins.
Behind-the-scenes videos are also such an incredible tool for other creatives as well. So few wedding professionals ever have the opportunity to work on a production of this side. These are the events that I used to dream of producing. They are beautiful and complicated and an absolute bear to execute, but it’s in these moments that I feel the most alive.
And that’s one of the reasons I really love this.
