In the world of luxury weddings and opulent events, the allure of aesthetics—what I like to call 'the pretty'—is undeniable. However, the true essence of a memorable celebration lies not merely in its visual appeal but in the steps you take to get there. It is the roadmap you take, the meticulous crafting and execution of the event, which I refer to as 'the process.'
My work is built upon the foundation that the pretty falls flat without the process. While each event is completely unique, doing my best work requires that I take you through a very specific set of steps. These steps allow me to truly see you and understand who you are while also ensuring that we are making the right decisions at the right time with the best information. My approach to event planning is not merely about fulfilling expectations but transcending them, turning dreams into reality.
Trust: The Foundation of Our Work
My work is built on a deep commitment to you, my clients. I ensure that every aspect of the event reflects their personalities and desires. The process begins with understanding the intricate details lives and desires. This comprehension forms the cornerstone of our event design, allowing us to tailor every element to echo the client's style, history, and aspirations. To design a wedding that is completely and utterly yours, we need to get to know one another deeply. As trust forms, you will allow me to see parts of you and your life that I will then take and incorporate into your design. In many ways, we are embarking on a friendship and the more time we spend together, grabbing coffee or lunch, shopping, or just trading notes on social media the deeper my understanding of you will be, leading to a more authentic design.
The Agreement: Broad Strokes
Our work together begins with a contractual agreement. I craft my contracts as a letter, a note between friends. In it, you will find a description of the broad strokes of your event. What I'm doing here is outlining your desires, as they have been communicated to me in the very early stages of our relationship. The broad strokes and details such as the time of year you would like to get married, the city, your guest count, and your current budget will all be noted, with the caveat that things will likelychange as we move through the process.
Scope of Services
People always ask me, "What exactly do you do" as a luxury wedding planner? And I always answer, "Whatever is necessary.” Still, it is often helpful for clients to have a list of services that they can review. Therefore, in our agreement, you will find a comprehensive list of services tailored to your needs. This list is not exhaustive, as we are always ready to accommodate unique requests and adapt to unforeseen needs. This flexibility ensures that each event is as unique and special as the individuals it celebrates.
Budget Planning and Management
What will your wedding cost? I have no idea! How can I tell you what we are going to spend but I haven't yet gotten to know you I started the process of design? It is at once impossible to determine a final spend, yet vital to set the parameters of what we will be doing together. Therefore, I provide all of my clients with a detailed overview of how money can be spent via a four-level overview of the budget. This document outlines every category and the staffing required to bring your vision to life, ensuring there are no surprises along the way. I then create four different budgets: the entry-level spend required to accomplish what you want, followed by an upgraded budget, and then a wildly lavish estimate for couples who wish to be limitless in their experience. Finally, and most importantly, I create an ideal spend based on your priorities and the things you care about most. This is our guide, which allows me to curate our partners, vendor selection, and design. My commitment is to maintain the integrity of this budget, allowing changes only at your discretion and with your approval.
Location Services
The location of your wedding sets the tone and drives nearly every decision we make. The city you choose will determine whether or not this is a local wedding for you and your guests or a destination. Your venue selection will also solidify your date, which will become a determining principle of everything, such as seasonality, weather, vendor, availability, and more. Your location will determine whether you are getting married, inside or outside, and that will allow us to understand your very specific and unique needs. For example, an outdoor winter wedding will need a snow plan. Weddings in the desert will require generators and portable restrooms. Ballroom weddings will require a very specific lighting plan. Each city and location is unique. Before we begin the planning process, I will fully investigate and understand your specific location so that we know what we need to do before we go down the planning process.
Design and Style Narrative
Beyond the aesthetics, our design philosophy encompasses functionality and feeling—the atmosphere that makes an event unforgettable. Once I understand how you see the world, I will filter your desires through my lens to create an over-the-top interpretation of your world view. This is when I begin to “bend the universe to my will”—creating inspiration boards that inform our final design, renderings, itemized orders, and logistics.
Event Management Services
Design is not just about how something looks; it is about how it feels and how it works. During the event management phase, I will complete a series of tasks, from creative partner selection (photo, video, music) to developing a custom timeline that ensures your event runs smoothly. This document is the roadmap to your event, detailing every logistical aspect from vendor coordination to day-of execution. It ensures that the event not only looks spectacular but runs flawlessly.
