JESSICA + ROB | LAKE TAHOE WINTER WONDERLAND TIMELAPSE VIDEO SERIES

Welcome to the Winter Wonderland of the Roy Wedding!

My team spent six days creating four uniquely different environments that would be enjoyed over two days. We got the full production on timelapse video and oh my god are they incredible!

This wedding was by far the most intricate and elaborate design and production that I ever took on. All at once we were building a ceremony atrium on the mountain top of Lake Tahoe in the midst of a snow storm while inside we were converting two hallways and two ballrooms into utterly different and unique experiences in order to tell a complete story rooted in the couple’s love of the mountains and winter season. I knew that this fete had to be documented, and that only a timelapse would do!

Timelapse videos are incredibly exciting because they offer a unique perspective on the world around us. By compressing time and showing events unfold at a much faster rate than they do in real life, these behind the scenes videos allow us to capture moments and scenes that might otherwise go unnoticed or overlooked.

One of the most exciting timelapse videos that we created was the construction of our ceremony Atrium. Only on video can reveal the hidden rhythms and patterns of the natural world. Watching clouds swirl and change shape over the course of hours, watching the snow fall, the trees and plans sway in the wind. It is both mesmerizing and awe-inspiring. My dear friend and trsuted partner, Matthew Schenck with M Place Pro, woke up every day at 5 am to adjust the cameras, ensuring that he could capture the ebb and flow of the production, catching both the night sky and the sun rise. It’s amazing how we were able to create such a stunning fete among the natural phenomena of the snowfall. Which was, in truth, a blizzard that dropped over 7 feet of snow over the course of the week.

In addition to creating this incredible timelapse video of the atrium, I wanted to showcase the work we were doing in the Ritz Carlton Ballroom as well. With over 100 people working to transform these spaces, our timelapse videos show the hustle and bustle of load ins and what it takes to construct an entirely new space from the ground up. Watching the comings and goings of people in this ballroom is fascinating and exhilarating! Watching it brings back all of the feelings I had in the moment, and I can marvel again and again at the work we created together.

My team has been producing these videos are many years and believe that one of the most exciting things about them is the way that they change our perception of time itself. By showing events unfold at a much faster rate than we're used to these timelapse videos make us feel as if we're moving through life more quickly. They can also give us a sense of the impermanence of the world around us, and the way that everything is constantly in a state of flux and change. This is what I love about my work! The ability to create something ethereal and ephemeral. Here for a moment and then just…gone.

I stand for what is next, not necessarily what’s now. These videos show in no uncertain terms what it takes it create the worlds that we get to play in. They are a testament to the contributions of the entire team and I could not be more proud of them!

What do you think of thes timelapse videos? Which space is the most exciting to you? I cannot wait to hear what you think!

Always…a
