NFL VETERAN JOHNATHAN HANKINS MARRIES MAHSA ZARE AT AN EXCLUSIVE DESTINATION WEDDING AT VIANSA WINERY

The Fairytale Union of NFL Star Johnathan “Bigtime Hank” Hankins and Top Luxury Realtor Mahsa Zare.

In the sprawling vineyards of Viansa Winery, Sonoma, California, a love story straight out of a fairytale unfolded. The romantic union of luxury realtor Mahsa Zare and NFL star Johnathan 'Bigtime Hank' Hankins, currently playing for the Dallas Cowboys, was a perfect blend of European charm, ethereal beauty, and personal touches that celebrated the couple's unique journey.

Finding Love in Unexpected Places

It all began in a nightclub in Dallas. Despite the pulsing music and crowded dance floor, the universe ensured their paths crossed. "Contrary to popular opinion, you can find love in a club," recalls Mahsa. "The instant connection was palpable." Their shared interests, from music to cars and fashion, only deepened the bond. Soon, the stars aligned once again when they serendipitously found themselves in Michigan, further solidifying their conviction that they were meant to be.

Throughout their whirlwind relationship, destiny played its part-time and again. From the uncanny coincidence in Michigan to the birth of their beloved daughter, Miliana, the universe conspired in their favor. Johnathan's proposal, against the backdrop of The Bellagio fountains, sealed their commitment.

The Ceremonial Ode to Romance

The couple wanted their wedding to echo the timeless elegance of Italy, and the Viansa Winery in Sonoma beautifully delivered that sentiment. The romantic backdrop of Cyprus trees lining the lawn, the venue's European charm, and the enchanting floral settings created the perfect stage for their vows. I wanted to keep the ceremony pristine and romantic, with timeless elements such as tufted white chairs, full blooms of white roses, and rolling hills of greenery.

Mahsa's ethereal entrance was one for the books. As she puts it, "The moment I saw my soulmate waiting at the end of the most beautiful aisle, a rush of emotions and memories overcame me. Marrying the man of my dreams in a place that reminded us of the beginning of our relationship was truly a blessing."

The ceremony decor was meticulously designed. Over 10,000 roses adorned the space, along with custom-made arches, a bespoke backdrop, and elegant sunkissed lighting that set the mood. Mahsa's bouquet, a lush mix of her favorite peonies and white roses, exemplified classical romance.

If you look closely, you will recognize that the wedding officiant is, well, me! Having planned several events for Mahsa and Hank over the years, we moved beyond the traditional client-consultant relationship and we became very close friends. During the planning process they asked if I would serve as their officiant and of course I was honored to!

Time to Mix and Mingle

Mahsa wanted a highly styled, deeply detailed event. The cocktail hour, with it’s sweeping views of the Viansa Vineyard, was the perfect place to add many personal touches. Guests mingled and enjoyed custom cocktails served on personalized napkins featuring sketcheds of thier dogs. They feasted on hand-crafted hors d’oeuvres and charcuterie while enjoying a “Marriage has a nice ring to it” champagne serving station. Every inch of the space was touched with floral wreaths and accents, while elegant signs, scripted in flowing calligraphy, led guests throughout the space while our newlyweds. took portraits throughout the grounds. The atmosphere was one of joyous sophistication, a perfect blend of traditional charm and modern flair, making the cocktail hour a beautifully romantic prelude to the evening's festivities.

A Reception of Glamour and Elegance

The reception in the winery's barrel room was a grand affair. Majestic floral arrangements, white orchids hanging from high ceilings, and beautiful centerpieces marked the transformation of the rustic space into a glamorous ballroom. I brought in long, extra wide farmhouse tables that were painted in a flat, matte black to add some weight and heaviness to the space and placed a high-gloss black dance floor in the center. Black chairs with ivory cushions were brought in, and all of the elements were tied together with candlelight and low centerpieces created from roses, hydrangea, and anemones.

A Blend of Cultures and Traditions

To honor Mahsa's Persian heritage, the celebration included traditional dances and a unique knife ceremony before the cake cutting, where the bridesmaids danced around Johnathan, making him prove his love and dedication to Mahsa. The couple's shared love for San Francisco-style dance music, combined with a live saxophonist and custom sketches on cocktail napkins (including adorable nods to their four dogs), added personal touches to the evening.

Looking Back with Love

For Mahsa, the highlight remains her walk down the aisle with the love of her life waiting for her. But their journey doesn't end here. As they danced to "Beyond" by Leon Bridges, surrounded by friends and family, it was evident that their love story was just beginning.

As they move forward, Mahsa's advice to couples diving into the world of wedding planning is clear, "Get a planner! Find someone you connect with, trust them, and always remember why you're getting married."
